Black Myth: Wukong runs at 30 FPS in Quality on PS5, at 40 FPS in Balanced with 120 Hz output, and targets 60 FPS in Performance. For PlayRoam, start with Quality and a 30 FPS stream: Pro frame generation displays 30 → 60 FPS motion on a 60 Hz screen. The old Performance mode's generated 60 FPS is now a separate option called Performance Mode (Legacy).

How the patches changed the PS5 modes

Figures come from Digital Foundry's December 2024 retest, also covered by Multiplayer.it, followed by Game Science's October 2025 patch notes reproduced by RPG Site. TechNode reports the revised Performance mode as native 60 Hz. These are different builds; launch reviews alone no longer describe the menu.

Quality's December change fixed its erratic frame delivery with a 30 FPS cap. That cost resolution: base PS5 renders at about 1080p and upscales to roughly 1440p-1620p. It kept improved shadows and foliage draw distance. Balanced also uses a lower-resolution picture, with a 45 FPS cap on 60 Hz output or a properly paced 40 FPS option at 120 Hz.

On PS5 Pro, Quality and Balanced start at about 1296p and reconstruct to 4K with PSSR. The sharper console image can produce a cleaner 1080p stream, but that is a possibility, not a measured Remote Play result.

The October 13, 2025 update rebuilt Performance for 60 Hz output, reduced input latency and raised resolution by lowering lighting quality. Its exact new render resolution is not disclosed in those notes. Legacy preserves the old 1080p mode, which generates frames from roughly 30 FPS to present about 60. That is not native 60 FPS gameplay. The January 2026 patch addressed Performance-mode map tearing, rather than announcing another set of graphics modes.

Stream Quality, but compare it before a boss

Quality is a sensible starting point for exploring temples and checking the detail on a boss before you enter the fight. It supplies a capped source instead of Balanced's awkward stream cadence. A 40 FPS picture does not divide evenly into Remote Play's 30 or 60 FPS delivery; a 120 Hz monitor on your PC cannot change that capture limitation.

With app generation on, Quality's camera movement looks smoother. Your dodge still belongs to the console's 30 FPS game. Generation adds roughly 17 ms plus processing, so do not judge responsiveness by the output counter alone. Read how PS5 frame generation works.

If Tiger Vanguard keeps catching your dodge, compare the revised Performance mode streamed at 60 FPS with PlayRoam generation off. Avoid stacking another generation pass on Legacy just to increase a counter. You would be adding frames to an image that already contains generated frames, without making the game's inputs run faster. Stellar Blade's modes offer another useful combat comparison.

Settings for your Wukong stream

Choose Quality in the game, then set up Windows:

  • Select Source → Local network at home. Source → Over the internet requires Pro and a PS5.
  • Set Resolution to 1080p and Frame rate to 30 FPS. Choosing 60 FPS for Quality only repeats frames.
  • In the Picture tab, choose FPS boost → 2× FSR. Pro generation works on any DirectX 11 graphics card.
  • Try Upscaling → FSR 1 on a 1440p or 4K monitor. It sharpens the received picture but cannot restore missing detail.
  • Check the output card for 30 → 60 FPS and read Added delay before a difficult fight.

Remote Play carries H.264 video without HDR. It does not send the console's full-resolution image.

A phone changes the trade

Android needs Pro and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip for Quality's 30 → 60 conversion. A recognised gamepad is worth trying before you learn a boss with touch controls; those controls are editable if you prefer them.

Use Fit to retain the whole picture. Read Android frame generation, then compare generation on and off at the same encounter. Keep the setting that lets you time the dodge, rather than the one with the larger FPS number.

Questions and answers

Is Black Myth: Wukong native 60 FPS on PS5?

The original Performance mode used frame generation from about 30 FPS. The October 2025 update replaced it with a revised Performance mode reported as native 60 Hz, with lower lighting quality. The original remains as Performance Mode (Legacy). A locked 60 FPS in every scene is not confirmed here.

Which Black Myth: Wukong mode should I stream?

Quality at a 30 FPS stream gives PlayRoam a consistent source for 60 FPS motion. For difficult boss fights, compare the revised Performance mode with app frame generation off.

Does Black Myth: Wukong have a 40 FPS mode?

Balanced targets 40 FPS with 120 Hz console output. At 60 Hz it uses an uneven 45 FPS cap. Neither rate fits evenly into a 30 or 60 FPS Remote Play stream.

What does PS5 Pro change in Black Myth: Wukong?

Quality and Balanced reconstruct roughly 1296p internal images to 4K with PSSR. Remote Play still sends at most 1080p60, so you do not receive a 4K stream.
