Bloodborne on PS5 is still 30 FPS. Your stream can look smoother

Bloodborne runs at 1080p with a 30 FPS cap on PS5, using the PS4 version through backward compatibility. There is no official PS5 performance patch or graphics-mode choice. Stream your own copy at 30 FPS with PlayRoam Pro and you can see 60 FPS motion on a 60 Hz screen. Your parries and dodges still follow the original game's timing.
Why PS5 doesn't unlock Bloodborne's frame rate
The console figures come from Digital Foundry's PS5 analysis and GamesRadar's backward-compatibility report. The latter also records the poor frame pacing: 30 FPS is the cap, not a promise that every frame arrives at a perfectly even interval.
You cannot choose a Performance mode to fix that. Putting the PS4 game on newer hardware does not remove its frame-rate limit. PlayRoam receives the picture your console produces; it doesn't patch Bloodborne or change its simulation.
The interest in Bloodborne at 60 FPS is real. Community patches and PC emulation exist, and Kotaku's June 2026 report distinguishes those projects from official console support. A modified-console video is not evidence that an ordinary PS5 now has a 60 FPS option. PlayRoam's route needs your own copy on your console, without emulator setup or game-file downloads.
Smoother Yharnam, with a timing cost
You have one mode to stream, so the useful choice is generation on or off. With Pro generation on, PlayRoam adds a frame between every two received frames for 30 → 60 FPS motion. Camera turns through Yharnam are a good place to decide if you prefer that presentation.
Combat deserves a separate decision. When you wait for an enemy's swing before firing a parry, a smoother picture does not give the game more input updates. Generation adds roughly 17 ms plus processing time at 30 FPS, on top of the rest of the Remote Play delay. Read the measured Added delay rather than treating 17 ms as your total latency.
Try a familiar stretch before committing to a difficult fight. If you feel late on a dodge or parry, turn generation off. It is reasonable to prefer the original motion and lower delay. Nor should you expect frame generation to repair Bloodborne's uneven source pacing. Our PS5 frame-generation guide explains the difference between generated motion and real game frames.
Settings for the PS4 version on PS5
On Windows, choose Source → Local network at home. Local streaming is free with a PlayRoam account; generation needs Pro. Use Source → Over the internet only when streaming from PS5 with Pro. Internet play does not support PS4.
Set Resolution to 1080p and Frame rate to 30 FPS. Selecting a 60 FPS stream only repeats Bloodborne's frames. In the Picture tab, choose FPS boost → 2× FSR and look for 30 → 60 FPS on the output card. This option works on any DirectX 11 graphics card.
For a larger monitor, Upscaling → FSR 1 can sharpen the 1080p picture at 1440p or 4K. It cannot supply missing texture detail. If combat feels sluggish, address the connection before blaming every missed parry on generation: reducing Remote Play lag is a separate job. For a Souls game with real 60 FPS console gameplay, compare Demon's Souls.
A hunt on your phone
Android generation needs Pro and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip. Use a 30 FPS stream for 60 FPS motion; a 120 Hz phone doesn't turn this 30 FPS game into a 120 FPS source. Any gamepad Android recognises works, and touch controls are editable. Start with Fit so the full picture stays visible. For a parry-heavy session, compare generation on and off with the same controller.
Questions and answers
Is Bloodborne 60 FPS on PS5?
No. The official PS4 version runs at a 30 FPS cap and 1080p through PS5 backward compatibility. It has no official PS5 performance patch.
Can PlayRoam make Bloodborne run at 60 FPS?
PlayRoam Pro can display a 30 FPS stream with 60 FPS motion by adding intermediate frames. Bloodborne and your inputs still run at the console's original frame rate.
Does Bloodborne frame generation affect parry timing?
Generation adds roughly 17 ms plus processing time to a 30 FPS stream. That delay matters for parries and dodges. Switch generation off if you prefer the lower delay.
Can I play Bloodborne on PC without an emulator?
You can use PlayRoam to stream your own copy running on your PS4 or PS5 to Windows. The PC displays the console stream rather than running a native PC version.
