Cyberpunk 2077 runs at 30 FPS in Ray Tracing mode on PS5, or targets 60 FPS in Performance. For slower trips around Night City, stream Ray Tracing at 30 FPS and use PlayRoam Pro for 60 FPS motion on a 60 Hz screen. For shooting and driving yourself, Performance gives you the faster real game response. PS5 Pro also has a real 60 FPS Ray Tracing mode.

PS5 modes, then the April 2026 Pro update

The standard PS5 figures are CD Projekt Red's native-version specifications. Performance targets 60 FPS without ray tracing. Ray Tracing uses 30 FPS and adds ray-traced local light shadows. Do not confuse those shadows with the broader reflections and lighting available on Pro.

CDPR describes both base modes as using dynamic 4K scaling. That is a target specification, not a promise of native 4K in every scene. The mode list uses that wording rather than treating pixel counts from an old patch as current measurements. The native PS5 version released on February 15, 2022, after the original December 10, 2020 launch.

Update 2.3 added console VRR support. For streaming, use standard output rather than a variable frame rate. A TV's ability to follow uneven console frames does not carry over to a fixed-rate Remote Play stream.

The free PS5 Pro update arrived on April 8, 2026, with PSSR upscaling and three graphics modes:

  • Ray Tracing targets a stable 60 FPS, with ray-traced shadows and reflections on vehicle paint and transparent objects. It is CDPR's default recommendation.
  • Performance targets 60 FPS on a regular display, or up to 90 FPS with VRR.
  • Ray Tracing Pro adds skylight, emissive lighting and ambient occlusion. It targets 30 FPS normally or 40 FPS on a high-refresh-rate display.

CDPR's announcement does not disclose each mode's internal resolution, so those pixel counts are marked as not disclosed. A cleaner Pro image can produce a cleaner 1080p stream, but the stream itself remains limited to 1080p60.

Choose a mode for the way you play V

Base PS5 Ray Tracing is worth trying when you spend more time talking, exploring or taking an AutoDrive trip than aiming. Update 2.3's automatic driving gives you a useful way to compare the generated motion while the car follows the road. PlayRoam adds a frame between each pair of received frames; V and your controls remain at 30 FPS.

That costs roughly 17 ms plus processing. Check Added delay, then compare with Performance during a fight or when taking a corner yourself. Generation cannot give the 30 FPS mode the response of a real 60 FPS mode. The PS5 frame-generation guide explains the difference; Alan Wake 2 presents another case where a slower visual mode may suit exploration better than combat.

On Pro, choose Ray Tracing at 60 FPS for a faster source with ray tracing intact. If you want Ray Tracing Pro's extra lighting instead, use its 30 FPS setting. Avoid the 40 FPS output for streaming: 40 does not divide evenly into 30 or 60 received frames. The up-to-90 FPS VRR setting cannot make Remote Play send 90 FPS either.

Windows settings for a Night City stream

For the base PS5 Ray Tracing recommendation, use standard 60 Hz console output and disable VRR so the source stays at its 30 FPS setting.

  • Select Source → Local network at home. Away from home, Source → Over the internet needs Pro and a PS5.
  • Set Resolution to 1080p and Frame rate to 30 FPS.
  • In the Picture tab, select FPS boost → 2× FSR with Pro. It works on any DirectX 11 graphics card.
  • Look for 30 → 60 FPS on the output card. Selecting a 60 FPS stream for this mode only repeats the game's 30 frames.
  • Try Upscaling → FSR 1 for a 1440p or 4K monitor. It cannot recreate detail absent from the stream.

For Performance on PS5 or Ray Tracing on Pro, switch the stream to 60 FPS. On a 120 Hz or faster monitor, generation can show 60 → 120 motion, with about 8 ms plus processing added. Leave it off if response matters more to you. Local streaming without generation is free with an account.

Night City on Android

A Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip and Pro are required for 30 → 60 generation. A 60 Hz phone screen is enough for the recommended base PS5 mode. A 120 Hz phone can try 60 → 120 from a 60 FPS stream; the app warns you if it cannot keep up. Then a 30 FPS stream for 30 → 60 is the reliable option.

See frame generation on Android for the requirements. Any gamepad Android recognises works, and touch controls are editable. Choose Fit if Fill crops the minimap during a drive.

Questions and answers

Is Cyberpunk 2077 60 FPS on PS5?

Performance mode targets 60 FPS. Ray Tracing mode uses 30 FPS at the standard output setting. PlayRoam can display its 30 FPS stream with 60 FPS motion, without changing the game's inputs.

Does Cyberpunk 2077 have a PS5 Pro update?

Yes. The free update released on April 8, 2026. It adds PSSR and three graphics modes: Ray Tracing, Performance and Ray Tracing Pro.

What frame rate is Ray Tracing Pro?

It targets 30 FPS on a regular display or 40 FPS with high-refresh-rate output. For Remote Play, use its 30 FPS setting because 40 FPS does not fit evenly into a 30 or 60 FPS stream.

Can Cyberpunk 2077 run at 120 FPS on PS5 Pro?

The developer specifies up to 90 FPS for Performance mode on a VRR display, not 120 FPS. PlayRoam can show a 60 FPS stream with 120 FPS motion on a 120 Hz or faster screen.
