Gran Turismo 7 races at 60 FPS on PS5 in both main graphics modes. Choose Prioritize Frame Rate for a 60 FPS stream with smoother replays too. PlayRoam Pro can display that stream with 120 FPS motion on a 120 Hz or faster screen, but your steering still responds at the game's real 60 FPS rate.

What the graphics settings change

Digital Foundry's PS5 and PS5 Pro analyses supply the main figures above. The four base-PS5 120 Hz combinations come from Twisted Voxel's breakdown. These are console rendering figures, not Remote Play resolutions.

On standard PS5, both main settings render races at native 4K and target 60 FPS. Prioritize Ray Tracing/Resolution reserves ray-traced reflections for replays and other car scenes at 30 FPS. It does not add ray tracing while you drive. Prioritize Frame Rate removes those reflections and keeps replays at a 60 FPS target. Heavy weather and a crowded grid can cause drops.

The 120 Hz option creates a different set of trade-offs. With VRR off, Frame Rate renders at 1260p and runs at essentially locked 120 FPS; Resolution uses 1440p and can dip. With VRR on, Frame Rate rises to 1440p, while Resolution reaches native 4K at roughly 70-120 FPS, usually around 80-90 in the cited races. VRR lets a compatible TV follow those changes.

PS5 Pro puts reflections on the track

Pro's ray-tracing/resolution setting brings reflections into races, including other cars reflected in your paint. It targets 60 FPS. PSSR enables cockpit ray tracing and reconstructs a 4K output; Digital Foundry measured 1080p internal rendering in its 2024 tests. With PSSR off, the game renders native 4K, but cockpit ray tracing is absent.

The Pro frame-rate option can target 120 FPS without ray tracing. Native 4K with TAA was faster than PSSR in Digital Foundry's demanding 120 Hz tests. The 8K option reconstructs from 4K and targets 60 FPS, with some races falling into the 50s. None of that becomes an 8K stream.

Update 1.71, released in August 2026, applies upgraded PSSR when you enable PSSR on Pro. The older pixel counts are measurements of the earlier version, not a fresh benchmark of that update. A cleaner console image can make the 1080p stream look cleaner, but the stream still tops out at 1080p60.

Choose consistency before generated frames

Use Prioritize Frame Rate with 120 Hz output disabled for streaming. You keep the 60 FPS race response and avoid the 30 FPS replay change. A high-refresh console mode cannot send 120 distinct frames through Remote Play's 60 FPS ceiling.

Frame generation adds roughly 8 ms plus processing to a 60 FPS stream. It can smooth the scenery passing your cockpit, but it will not give you earlier braking information or quicker steering. Compare it on and off through the same corner before using it in Sport mode. For a licence test where you keep missing the braking point, leave generation off. See ways to reduce Remote Play lag.

Set up a 60 FPS race stream

On Windows, choose Source → Local network at home, then Resolution 1080p and Frame rate 60 FPS. Local streaming is free with a PlayRoam account. Source → Over the internet needs Pro and a PS5.

On a 120 Hz or faster monitor, try FPS boost → 2× FSR with Pro. It works on any DirectX 11 graphics card. Check the output card for 60 → 120 FPS and read Added delay. A 60 Hz monitor cannot show that 120 FPS result.

For a larger monitor, Upscaling → FSR 1 can sharpen the 1080p picture, but it cannot recreate trackside detail missing from the H.264 stream. Read how PS5 frame generation works before treating the output number as a console frame rate.

Racing on Android

A 120 Hz phone can try 60 → 120 from your 60 FPS stream with Pro and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip. If the app reports that the phone cannot keep up, a 30 FPS stream with 30 → 60 is the reliable fallback. That trades away half the received frames, so compare it against plain 60 FPS before racing.

Use a gamepad Android recognises. Keep the picture on Fit if Fill crops the instruments; being able to read the speedometer matters more than using every pixel of a wide phone.

Questions and answers

Is Gran Turismo 7 60 FPS on PS5?

Yes. Both main graphics settings target 60 FPS during races at native 4K. Prioritize Ray Tracing/Resolution uses 30 FPS for ray-traced replays, not for normal driving.

Does Gran Turismo 7 have a 120 FPS mode?

Yes. PS5 has 120 Hz options with different resolutions depending on graphics priority and VRR. Frame Rate with VRR off runs at 1260p and essentially locked 120 FPS. Other combinations can drop below 120 FPS.

Does PS5 Pro add ray tracing during races?

Yes. Its ray-tracing/resolution setting adds ray-traced reflections during gameplay at a 60 FPS target. PSSR enables cockpit ray tracing. The 120 FPS option turns ray tracing off.

Does PlayRoam make steering respond at 120 FPS?

No. A 60 FPS stream can show 120 FPS motion with Pro frame generation on a 120 Hz or faster screen. Steering and the game remain at the console's real frame rate, and generation adds delay.
