Helldivers 2 targets 60 FPS on PS5 in Performance mode, but a packed battlefield can pull it below that. Quality targets 30 FPS. Stream Performance at 60 FPS with PlayRoam; on a 120 Hz or faster screen, Pro frame generation can show 60 → 120 FPS motion when the console supplies enough distinct frames. It cannot repair the game's slowdowns.
What the PS5 modes actually deliver
The figures here come from IGN's reproduction of Arrowhead's 6.2.5 patch notes and PSFoundry's summary of Digital Foundry's console tests. Treat the older test results as measurements of those builds, not a benchmark of every later mission.
Performance is the mode for aiming and reacting. Earlier base-PS5 tests found drops into the 40s and even 30s at high difficulty. The name describes its 60 FPS target, not a lock. Quality's higher-resolution picture comes with a 30 FPS target and reported frame-pacing problems, so it is a poor default for this shooter.
The May 29, 2026 update matters: patch 6.2.5 added dynamic resolution support and raised the PS5 Performance target from 1080p to 1440p. It also added VRR support on PS5 and Pro. Power Saver received a 1440p resolution target too, though those notes do not state its frame-rate target. Disable that console power-saving option when you want the normal Performance preset.
What PS5 Pro changes
Analysis of the earlier Pro upgrade measured 1440p Performance rendering and native 4K Quality rendering. Pro also held higher frame rates in demanding combat, often within the 40-60 FPS range in the cited testing. It still did not turn every large fight into a locked 60 FPS experience.
The later dynamic-resolution patch means those fixed-resolution measurements need context. Current lower resolution limits are not disclosed in the cited notes. VRR can help a compatible TV attached to the console, but it does not make a Remote Play stream carry more than 60 FPS.
Stream Performance, then judge it under fire
A quiet moment on the ship is not a useful place to decide how frame generation feels. Try it during an extraction with your squad. Compare camera movement and aiming with generation on and off, particularly when enemies and explosions fill the screen.
PlayRoam adds a frame between received frames. If the console is struggling, some stream frames repeat and the result will not behave like a steady 120 FPS game. Generation also adds about 8 ms plus processing at a 60 FPS stream setting. Your inputs and the simulation remain at the console's real rate. If aiming feels late, turn generation off before sacrificing the faster console mode.
Network delay matters separately. The Remote Play lag guide helps you address that part; frame generation cannot remove it.
Set up your Windows stream
Choose Performance in the game. In PlayRoam, select Source → Local network, Resolution 1080p and Frame rate 60 FPS. Home streaming is free with an account. Away from home, Source → Over the internet needs Pro and a PS5.
For a 120 Hz or faster monitor, try FPS boost → 2× FSR with Pro. It works on any DirectX 11 graphics card. Read Added delay rather than assuming the extra motion is free. A 60 Hz monitor cannot display the 120 FPS result.
On a 1440p or 4K monitor, Upscaling → FSR 1 can sharpen the 1080p picture, but it cannot restore detail absent from the stream. The stream uses H.264 and tops out at 1080p60. A sharper Pro source can look cleaner after streaming, without changing that limit.
Dropping in from an Android phone
On a 120 Hz phone, a 60 FPS stream can try 60 → 120. The app tells you if the phone cannot keep up. A 30 FPS stream with Pro and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip is the reliable route to 30 → 60 motion, but compare the aiming delay before using it for a difficult mission.
Use a controller Android recognises, or edit the touch controls. Read Android frame generation for the hardware requirements. Keep Fit if Fill cuts off mission information at the screen edges.
Questions and answers
Is Helldivers 2 a locked 60 FPS on PS5?
No. Performance targets 60 FPS, but technical analysis found drops into the 40s and 30s during demanding fights. The May 2026 patch adds dynamic resolution and raises the Performance resolution target to 1440p; that is not a promise of locked 60 FPS.
What changed in Helldivers 2 patch 6.2.5 on PS5?
The May 29, 2026 patch added dynamic resolution support and VRR support, and raised PS5 Performance and Power Saver resolution targets to 1440p.
Is Helldivers 2 better on PS5 Pro?
Analysis of the Pro upgrade found 1440p Performance and native 4K Quality rendering, with better frame rates in busy fights. Performance still had drops below 60 FPS.
Can PlayRoam make Helldivers 2 run at 120 FPS?
It cannot change the console's game frame rate. On a 120 Hz or faster screen, Pro frame generation can display a 60 FPS stream with 120 FPS motion. Console drops and repeated stream frames still limit the result.
