Marvel's Spider-Man 2: Fidelity mode at 60 FPS on your PC

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 makes you choose: Fidelity mode with every ray-tracing feature at 30 FPS, or Performance mode at 60 FPS with a much lower resolution. Streamed to your PC with PlayRoam, Fidelity mode moves at 60 FPS thanks to frame generation, and both modes are upscaled to your monitor.

How Spider-Man 2 runs on PS5

Fidelity renders at a dynamic resolution between 1440p and 4K and holds 30 FPS. It turns on all ray-tracing features, including ray-traced reflections, water and window interiors, and maxes out crowd density, traffic and hair detail.

Performance runs at a dynamic 1008p to 1440p with a solid 60 FPS. Ray tracing stays on, but the gap to Fidelity is larger than in Insomniac's earlier PS5 games, which is why many players are torn.

On 120 Hz TVs the game also offers VRR options that let the frame rate run above the targets. Those are built for a TV connected to the console; when you stream, stick to the two main modes.

What PlayRoam changes

• Fidelity at 60 FPS motion. Stream at 30 fps and PlayRoam generates a frame between each pair. Swinging through Manhattan is where 30 FPS feels slowest, so the difference is immediate.
• Performance at 120 FPS motion. With a 120 Hz or faster monitor, stream at 60 fps and 2× generation shows 120 FPS.
• A sharper city. The Remote Play stream is 1080p; upscaling rebuilds edges and signage at 1440p or 4K.

Recommended PlayRoam settings

• Story and exploration: Fidelity mode, stream 1080p at 30 fps, frame generation 2×.
• Combat challenges: Performance mode, stream 1080p at 60 fps; turn generation off if you want the lowest latency for dodges.
• Connection: Local network with the PS5 on Ethernet.
