Monster Hunter Wilds targets 30 FPS in Prioritize Resolution, 40 FPS in Balanced on a 120 Hz display, or 60 FPS in Prioritize Framerate on PS5. That last target has not meant a consistently locked 60 FPS on the base console. For PlayRoam, start with the 30 FPS Resolution mode: Pro frame generation can display 30 → 60 FPS motion on a 60 Hz screen, while combat still runs at the console's actual rate.

The PS5 modes are targets, not promises

The mode figures above use TechRadar's console settings guide and PSFoundry's technical summary. The former lists target rendering resolutions; the latter describes dynamic scaling and image-quality problems. Treat those internal figures as a guide to the trade, not a pixel count that stays fixed for a whole hunt.

Prioritize Resolution has a roughly 1728p internal target and a 30 FPS cap. Balanced reduces the target to about 1404p for 40 FPS with 120 Hz output. Prioritize Framerate cuts resolution further, with reported internal scaling between 720p and 1080p. Its softer picture and shimmering edges are the price of the higher frame-rate target. Busy hunts can still interrupt the cadence.

PS5 Pro keeps the three choices. PSSR cleans up edges and foliage, while Resolution and Balanced add ray-traced reflections. Prioritize Framerate sacrifices those reflections for its 60 FPS target. You can choose a cap or an unlocked frame rate; keep the cap for streaming. A cleaner Pro image can help the 1080p stream, but Remote Play does not become 4K.

What the performance patches actually say

Capcom's December 16, 2025 update added more than 100 performance improvements across hardware, including work on collision checks and simultaneous effects. The February 18, 2026 patch reduced CPU/GPU load again through model detail levels, monster spawn processing and effect caching.

Those changes matter, but the notes do not establish a new universally locked 60 FPS mode. The August 4, 2026 update, version 1.042.00.00, added offline quest access and fixes rather than announcing replacement console modes. Do not carry launch frame-rate measurements forward as if they were a test of that build, or assume a patch has eliminated every dip.

Choose a stream for the hunt you are doing

Prioritize Resolution is our starting recommendation for a clearer picture and a capped 30 FPS source. On a Seikret ride through the Windward Plains, generated frames can make camera movement easier to watch. They cannot repair a console stall or recover detail lost to compression.

During a close fight, responsiveness may matter more. Frame generation adds roughly 17 ms at 30 FPS plus processing time, and your inputs remain tied to the real game rate. If you are missing a counter, compare Prioritize Framerate at a 60 FPS stream with app generation off before changing your weapon build.

Balanced is useful on a TV connected to the console, but its 40 FPS output does not divide evenly into a 30 or 60 FPS stream. An unlocked mode is also a poor starting point: PlayRoam doubles the frames it receives, including their uneven timing. Wukong's Balanced mode has a similar streaming problem. See PS5 frame generation for the distinction between displayed motion and game response.

Settings for Monster Hunter Wilds

In the game, select Prioritize Resolution and keep its frame-rate cap on. On Windows:

  • Choose Source → Local network at home, which is free with a PlayRoam account. Internet play on PS5 requires Pro.
  • Set Resolution to 1080p and Frame rate to 30 FPS.
  • In the Picture tab, use FPS boost → 2× FSR for Pro generation on any DirectX 11 graphics card.
  • Use Upscaling → FSR 1 if the 1080p picture needs sharpening on a larger monitor. It cannot add missing detail.
  • Check the output card for 30 → 60 FPS and compare Added delay during a hunt.

The stream uses H.264 without HDR. For connection problems, follow Remote Play lag advice before blaming the graphics mode.

Hunting on Android

Pro generation needs Vulkan 1.3 support for 30 → 60. Use Fit if you want the whole HUD visible, and a gamepad Android recognises for weapon shortcuts. Touch controls are editable.

A 120 Hz phone can try 60 → 120 from a 60 FPS stream, but neither the phone nor generation fixes console dips. If the app reports that the phone cannot keep up, use the 30 FPS stream for 30 → 60 instead. Keep app generation off if its extra delay makes your counters less reliable.

Questions and answers

Is Monster Hunter Wilds 60 FPS on PS5?

Prioritize Framerate targets 60 FPS, but base PS5 performance has been uneven. Its target is not a guarantee of a locked 60 FPS hunt. Capcom released console optimizations in December 2025 and February 2026.

Which Monster Hunter Wilds mode should I stream?

Start with Prioritize Resolution and a 30 FPS stream for a higher-resolution source and 60 FPS display motion with PlayRoam Pro. For counters and dodges, compare Prioritize Framerate at a 60 FPS stream with app generation off.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds have a 40 FPS mode?

Balanced targets 40 FPS with 120 Hz console output. It does not fit evenly into the 30 or 60 FPS video rates used by Remote Play.

Is Monster Hunter Wilds better on PS5 Pro?

PS5 Pro uses PSSR and adds ray-traced reflections in Resolution and Balanced. Its frame-rate mode has a cleaner image than base PS5, though the stream is still limited to 1080p60.
