Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart runs at 60 FPS on PS5 in Performance RT, with ray-traced reflections and a dynamic 1080p-1440p image. That is the mode to stream with PlayRoam. Pro frame generation can turn its 60 FPS stream into 120 FPS motion on a 120 Hz or faster screen, while combat and controls stay at the console's real rate.
Three PS5 modes, two different compromises
The Verge's report, based on Digital Foundry's analysis, supplies the standard PS5 resolutions and frame rates. Insomniac documents the unlocked VRR behaviour. Digital Foundry's Pro comparison and the Pro-mode reference supply the newer settings above.
Fidelity targets 30 FPS at dynamic 1800p-2160p with ray tracing. Performance targets 60 FPS at 1620p-1800p without it. Performance RT also targets 60 FPS, but lowers resolution to 1080p-1440p to keep the reflections. Those ranges describe internal rendering, not the resolution of the video PlayRoam receives.
The distinction is easy to appreciate in Rift Apart's shiny science-fiction environments. Performance gives you more pixels, but Performance RT keeps the reflections as you turn the camera. Through a stream capped at 1080p, that is a trade worth making.
The 1.002 update added 40 FPS Fidelity for 120 Hz screens. With both 120 Hz Display Mode and VRR active, Insomniac's modes can run uncapped above their usual targets. Neither is a fixed 120 FPS option. For Remote Play, turn 120 Hz Display Mode off and use a regular 30 or 60 FPS mode: 40 FPS does not divide evenly into the stream's cadence, and unlocked rates can arrive unevenly.
What PS5 Pro changes
Update 1.005.000 added Performance Pro and Fidelity Pro. Performance Pro targets 60 FPS with ray tracing and PSSR reconstruction to a 4K output. Digital Foundry measured around 1584p internally in its preview comparison, with cleaner reflections than standard Performance RT. Treat that as a measured sample, not a fixed resolution in every scene.
Fidelity Pro targets 30 FPS and adds more demanding reflection and ambient-occlusion settings. It also has a 40 FPS option with 120 Hz output. The cited Pro-mode reference reports roughly 80-90 FPS for unlocked Performance Pro and nearly 60 for unlocked Fidelity Pro, rather than locks at those figures.
Current Pro system software can also apply upgraded PSSR to the game, as the Pro-mode reference explains. That changes image reconstruction, not the reason to choose a regular 60 FPS mode for streaming.
For a Pro stream, choose Performance Pro at its regular 60 FPS target. A cleaner console image can make the 1080p stream look cleaner, but Remote Play still sends at most 1080p60. You do not receive the console's reconstructed 4K image pixel for pixel.
Keep the response for fights
The opening Festival of Heroes throws confetti across the screen. Extra displayed frames are an appealing option for that movement, but the next hectic fight puts a different demand on your hands. You still aim, dodge and fire at the real console rate.
At 60 FPS, generation adds about 8 ms plus processing. Compare a fight with it enabled and disabled before deciding. If aiming feels late, leave generation off rather than choosing 30 FPS Fidelity to chase a higher displayed number. Spider-Man 2's mode choices pose a similar decision between camera motion and combat response.
Windows settings for Performance RT
Start at home with Source → Local network, Resolution 1080p and Frame rate 60 FPS. Local Remote Play is free with a PlayRoam account. Source → Over the internet needs Pro and works with PS5, not PS4.
On a 120 Hz or faster monitor, select FPS boost → 2× FSR with Pro for 60 → 120 FPS motion. Any DirectX 11 graphics card can use it. Check the output card and Added delay rather than assuming the displayed number describes the PS5.
If your monitor is 1440p or 4K, try Upscaling → FSR 1. It sharpens the 1080p stream, but cannot restore detail the video did not carry. The PS5 frame-generation guide explains the difference between real and generated frames.
Rift Apart on your phone
Android can try 60 → 120 with Pro on a 120 Hz phone screen and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics chip. The app reports if it cannot keep up; then 30 → 60 from a 30 FPS stream is the reliable generation option. Compare that fallback against plain 60 FPS for gunfights.
Any gamepad Android recognises works, and touch controls are editable. Use Fit if Fill cuts off the weapon information. Keep enough of the picture visible to read what you are holding before the next fight.
Questions and answers
Is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart 60 FPS on PS5?
Yes. Performance and Performance RT target 60 FPS. Performance RT keeps ray-traced reflections at a lower dynamic resolution, while Performance removes ray tracing for more pixels.
What is Rift Apart's 40 FPS mode?
Fidelity runs at 40 FPS when 120 Hz Display Mode is active on a compatible console-connected screen. It otherwise targets 30 FPS. A 40 FPS game does not fit evenly into a 30 or 60 FPS Remote Play stream.
What does Rift Apart change on PS5 Pro?
Performance Pro targets 60 FPS with ray tracing and PSSR reconstruction to 4K. Fidelity Pro targets 30 FPS with more demanding ray-tracing options, or 40 FPS with 120 Hz output. VRR can unlock both modes.
Can I stream Rift Apart with 120 FPS motion?
PlayRoam Pro can turn a 60 FPS Performance RT stream into 120 FPS motion on a 120 Hz or faster screen. The console's game and controls remain at their real frame rate, and frame generation adds delay.
