Play PS5 Remote Play with keyboard and mouse on Windows

By the PlayRoam team · Updated October 9, 2026 · 4 min read

You can use keyboard and mouse for PS5 Remote Play in PlayRoam Pro on Windows. The app maps your inputs to a controller: the mouse moves a stick, so aim feels like a stick rather than a native PC mouse. Edit the bindings and tune the response for the console game you want to play.

What you need before switching controls

Home-network Remote Play is free with a PlayRoam account, including supported physical controllers. Pro puts movement and stick aiming on your keyboard and mouse, with editable bindings on Windows. It costs $10 per month, and one subscription covers Windows and Android. Keyboard and mouse mapping is Windows only.

Set up a working stream with the PS5 Remote Play on PC guide. Input capture needs a licensed controller stream. Keep the live picture window in front to use your mapped controls.

You can combine keyboard input with a physical pad. That is useful when you want to use the keyboard for movement but keep a controller nearby for a section you prefer to play on sticks. Mouse mapping does not emulate a gyro.

Turn on keyboard and mouse

  1. Start your console stream, then open Controls in PlayRoam.
  2. Turn on Enable keyboard & mouse. The app's instruction is: "Click the picture to play with keyboard and mouse. Esc frees the mouse."
  3. Choose Mouse stick → Right for right-stick control, which is the default. Choose Left if you want mouse movement to drive the left stick instead.
  4. Open Bindings and review the actions you will use. Start with the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 preset if you want the included layout, then change inputs to suit you.
  5. Click the live picture and test in a quiet part of the game. Press Esc when you need your mouse back, and return to Controls to adjust the response.

Tune the mouse as a stick

Mouse motion becomes stick travel. Sensitivity controls the response, while Curve and Dead zone affect how that travel starts and grows. Tune those two settings alongside sensitivity to get the response you want.

The available ranges give you room to experiment:

SettingRangeDefault
Sensitivity0.2× to 5×1×
Curve0.4 to 1.50.8
Dead zone0% to 40%12%
Smoothing0 to 30 ms8 ms

Invert Y reverses vertical input. Start at the defaults and change one setting at a time, using the same short mouse motion for each test. Test small corrections separately from a fast camera turn. A setting that suits a broad sweep may feel wrong when you make a small adjustment.

If slow movement jumps farther than you expect, revisit Dead zone and Curve before raising Sensitivity. If movement feels too filtered, try reducing the mouse Smoothing value. This control is measured in milliseconds; it is separate from stream Smoothing, which holds the picture back to even out network stalls.

Use these sliders to tune the controller input PlayRoam sends. If the picture itself feels late, follow the Remote Play lag checks and handle the stream delay separately from mouse sensitivity.

Edit bindings without fighting reserved keys

Each action in Bindings can have several inputs. Click an existing input to replace it, use + to add another, or × to remove one. You can assign keyboard keys, mouse buttons or wheel directions. Mouse options include Mouse 1, Mouse 2, Mouse 3, Mouse back and Mouse forward.

Tab, Escape and F11 are reserved for PlayRoam. Tab opens settings, F11 controls full screen and Esc releases the captured mouse. Assign other inputs to your game actions.

Bind keys to controller buttons and left-stick directions, and use the mouse for your selected stick. A keyboard binding for L2 or R2 pulls that trigger fully. For a variable trigger pull, use a physical pad.

Bind Walk when you want movement below full stick tilt. While you use it, PlayRoam sets left-stick movement to 40%. The game determines your character's speed at that input level.

Use the Spider-Man preset as a starting point

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the single included preset. It has WASD movement and mouse stick control. It also supplies actions for Finisher, Throw object and Symbiote surge, which send the corresponding controller-button combinations.

Our Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game guide covers the console picture settings separately from input mapping. Use Reset to preset to discard your binding changes and return to the included layout.

Questions and answers

Can I use keyboard and mouse for PS5 Remote Play on PC?

Yes, with PlayRoam Pro on Windows. Keyboard and mouse inputs map to a controller, so mouse aiming follows stick behaviour rather than native PC mouse input.

Why are my Remote Play keyboard controls not working?

Turn on Enable keyboard & mouse and click the live stream picture to capture input. PlayRoam needs the picture window in front and a licensed controller stream; Esc frees the mouse.

Can I change the keyboard mappings?

Yes. The bindings editor lets you add, remove or replace inputs for an action. Tab, Escape and F11 are reserved for PlayRoam and cannot be assigned.

Does PlayRoam have a Spider-Man 2 keyboard preset?

Yes, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the one included preset. You can change its bindings or use Reset to preset to restore them.

Can I walk instead of run with keyboard controls?

Bind the Walk action in the editor. It sets left-stick movement to 40% rather than full tilt; how that movement behaves depends on the game.
